What to Know About Getting a CEREC Crown

A crown is a restorative dental option for a damaged or weakened tooth, a large dental filling, or following a root canal. However, if you are missing one or more teeth, a bridge may be an ideal option.

Your approximately 2-hour appointment will generally look like this:

After applying a local anesthetic, Dr. Blair will file down your tooth to allow the crown to fit.
Dr. Blair will create a digital image of the tooth in question so that a crown matching the colour of your surrounding teeth can be milled on-site.
Dr. Blair will place your crown and check that the fit and your bite are comfortable and accurate.
When the fit is confirmed, Dr. Blair will bond your crown in place.

Caring For Your Crown

With good oral hygiene habits, your crown can last for about a decade.

You can brush and floss your crown just like your natural teeth. Be sure to avoid chewing on hard food items or other materials, like pens or pencils, to help preserve your teeth for a lifetime.
