Stop Snoring in Minutes

At Palermo Village Dental, our Oakville sleep dentistry services include the Solea Sleep Laser to treat a common form of snoring in just a 5-minute treatment. For patients living with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), we offer custom-fitted oral appliances to alleviate symptoms and help them gain a better night’s sleep.

To build the right treatment plan for you, we start with the at-home MATRx Plus sleep study. This study can help us identify whether you have OSA and what type of treatment is likely to be effective.

Solea Sleep Laser

Solea Sleep is a non-surgical laser procedure that can improve the quality of your sleep by gently tightening the tissue in your soft palate.

Unlike surgical procedures that can have lengthy recoveries, Solea Sleep is a 5-minute procedure during which most patients report not feeling anything.

Patients on average see a reduction of snoring from the Solea Sleep procedure for 12 to 15 months. The collagen in the roof of the mouth will naturally relax and loosen over time, so we recommend you undergo the Solea Sleep procedure once a year to maintain your desired results.

About Sleep Apnea

If you experience a constant sense of exhaustion, headaches for no reason, or have unexplained high blood pressure, you may be suffering from sleep apnea. The most common type of sleep apnea is called obstructive sleep apnea.

People with obstructive sleep apnea stop breathing during the night for 10–30 seconds, which can cause serious health problems, including:

  • High blood pressure
  • Stroke
  • Heart attack
  • Depression

Learn how our take-home sleep study can help diagnose sleep apnea.

Signs of Sleep Apnea

While snoring is a common sign of sleep apnea, it’s possible to have sleep apnea without snoring. Other commons signs of obstructive sleep apnea include:

  • Gasping or choking during sleep
  • Daytime sleepiness
  • Lowered sex drive
  • Falling asleep while driving
  • Morning headaches
  • Poor concentration, memory loss, & irritability

Men are up to 4 times as likely to be diagnosed with sleep apnea as women, and it’s 7 times more common in those who are obese.

Our MATRx Plus take-home sleep study can assess whether you have sleep apnea and if an oral appliance or CPAP machine might be the best treatment for you.

An oral appliance is a custom-fitted, mouthguard-like device worn at night that adjusts the jaw to address snoring and breathing problems related to sleep apnea.

A CPAP machine is a unit with a mask and motor that delivers continuous air to the wearer during sleep to keep their airways open.

The Solea Sleep laser isn’t a treatment for sleep apnea. Rather, it’s a solution for snoring related to the soft palate.

Teeth Grinding at Night

Another common nighttime issue is grinding or clenching their teeth at night. If you wake up in the mornings with stiffness in your jaw or headaches or if you see worn, flat spots on your teeth, you may be grinding or clenching your teeth while sleeping.

Book an appointment to learn about our customized oral appliances that can help protect your teeth from the nightly grind.
